Dr Tom Massey

Dr Massey is a clinical academic Neurologist in Cardiff, currently funded by a MRC Clinician Scientist Fellowship. Originally training in Biochemistry and DNA repair mechanisms, Dr Massey then qualified as a Neurologist and now combines molecular biology, genetics and stem cell models to understand the key pathogenic drivers of Huntington’s disease (HD). Dr Massey is passionate about identifying new drug targets in HD and then trying to develop them for the benefit of people with HD and their families. His portfolio includes running a lab team working on drug targets in HD, leading clinical trials of new therapies and co-leading the specialist HD clinical service in Cardiff with Prof Rosser and Dr McLauchlan. Dr Massey also co-chairs the UK HD network, is a group leader in the UK Dementia Research Institute, and advises UK and international academic and commercial partners on all aspects of HD.
